Dr. Mike,

A letter to the file…

With coffee poured, jump right to it. Using broad brush strokes, after the health care

cataclysm, our enlightened Congress has passed (and our courageous President has signed) legislation that creates The United States Health Care System. This legislation:

  1. Recognizes that our fine country’s economic stability and national security require a designed, implemented and maintained health care system that provides all eligible

    residents with universal access to ABC-STEEEP (affordable, basic, compassionate, safe, timely, efficient, effective, equitable/just, patient-centered care).

  2. Names the system The United States Health Care System (USHCS).

  3. Recognizes The United States Health Care System (USHCS) to be national infrastructure.

  4. Directs the United States Treasury to fund (deficit free) The United States Health Care System (USHCS) through personal and corporate income taxes.

  5. Requires The United States Health Care System (USHCS) to:

    • Create an ascendant culture that endeavors daily to deliver ABC-STEEEP to the

      eligible residents of our fine country;

    • Function as a not-for-profit organization;

    • Ensure quality and safety;

    • Identify, address, adjudicate and compensate harms;

    • Excel in customer/client/patient/family satisfaction;

    • Enhance health care education and literacy;

    • Demonstrate fiscal efficiency and accuracy;

    • Prevent duplication, fraud and abuse; and

    • Be dedicated to continuous scrutiny of processes and continuous improvement.

Importantly, this legislation appoints you, T Michael White MD, as The United States

Health Care System (USHCS) Czar and wisely provides you with unlimited executive decision-making authority.

Dr. Mike, even you must agree this is a very good start. OK, this done, get to work.

Respectfully submitted with fondest personal regards,

Dr. Mike
